FA Cup Rnd 4 Review
Sunday 24 January
Stoke City 3 - 1 Arsenal
Stoke City produced a stunning performance to seal their place in the 5th Round of the FA Cup at the expense of Arsenal. Arsene Wenger fielded a team that resembled one of his League Cup sides with the likes of Fabregas, Almunia, Arshavin and Vermuelen(to name but a few) all missing from the starting line up. Some would say this was a very foolish move by Wenger considering the physical nature of Stoke's game play. Ricardo Fuller headed Stoke into the lead after only two minutes played, thanks to a trademark Rory Delap throw in. Arsenal equalised three minutes before the break through Denilson's deflected shot as the teams went into the break on level terms. The second half belonged to Stoke though as Fuller restored their lead in the 78th minute with another header and Dean Whitehead slotted in the third to send Arsenal crashing out of the FA Cup.
Scunthorp 2 - 4 Manchester City
Manchester City booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup after a thrilling 4-2 win over Scunthorp. Martin Petrov blasted City into an early lead when he scored the opener in the 3rd minute but the homeside struck back on the half hour mark through a Paul Hayes volley. Nedum Onuoha restored City's lead just before half time when he slid in from Stephen Ireland's chip. It wasn't long before City extended their lead, this time through former Arsenal fullback Sylvinho who lined up a shot from 30 yards which flew into the roof of the net. Scunthorp got a lifeline when an own goal from Bayoneta made it 3-2 but Robinho sealed the victory in the 84th minute with a classy finish.

Tottenham 2 - 2 Leeds United
Almost every season there seems to one lower league team determined to make it to Wembley and this season that team appears to be League 1 side Leeds United. Leeds have followed up their 3rd Round upset win over Manchester United with another good result as they came from behind to earn a replay against Spurs. Peter Crouch's first half goal meant that Spurs went into the break 1-0 up but Leeds came out fighting in the second half. Leeds hero from the 3rd Round, Jermaine Beckford was their star man again when he equalised in the 52nd minute with a poachers strike. Roman Pavlyuchenko then restored Spurs' lead in the 75th minute and it looked like being the winner until Beckford earned a penalty deep into stoppage time. The striker then picked himself up and kept his cool as he fired in from the spotkick in the 96th minute to earn Leeds a well deserved replay.
Accrignton Stanley 1 - 3 Fulham
Fulham secured a 3-1 win over Accrington Stanley after the home side put up a real fight in the first half. A scrappy goal from Erik Nevland saw Fulham open the scoring in the 21st minute , but the home side fought back and were soon back on level terms when Michael Symes scored 4 minutes later after a mix-up in the Fulham box. Accrington were dealt a heavy blow when Darren Kempson was sent off just before the break after picking up his second yellow card. Fulham took advantage the situation and they were soon back in front when Damien Duff fired in after 60 minutes on the clock while Zoltan Gera made sure of the win with 10 minutes remaining to make the scoreline 3-1 which was a bit harsh on the home side who could so easily have gotten a good result out of this encounter.
